EASY HOMEMADE GARLIC VEGAN CROUTONS RECIPE – BAKED
This easy vegan crouton recipe is the easiest and best way to reduce food waste as I made these croutons with leftover stale bread I had at home. Therefore, this recipe is easy but quick, made of simple ingredients, and tastier than the store-bought croutons. Even though I used olive oil to make this homemade croutons, you can easily replace this ingredient with vegetable oil to reduce costs.
SEASONING FOR THE CROUTONS
I used homemade garlic powder, dried parsley (you can also use garlic powder from the grocery store), Himalayan salts, and extra virgin olive oil to season these easy vegan croutons. However, you can add or replace these seasoning ingredients with other aromatic and delicious ingredients; such as herbs and spices. In addition to this, you can season with nutritional yeast to get a cheesy flavor.

- Italian herbs (Italian seasoning).

- Onion powder.
- Chili powder/chili flakes.
- Black pepper.

To make this crispy croutons you will only need a few simple ingredients. The star of these homemade vegan croutons is the bread and this recipe goes very well with day-old bread and is a great way to reduce food waste. Furthermore, you can make these crunchy croutons a gluten-free recipe, and use gluten-free bread as you can see you can choose the type of bread you already have at home and the one that is more suitable for your diet.

Lastly, changing the cooking appliance might change the cooking time, the oil quantity, and the final result.

EASY HOMEMADE GARLIC VEGAN CROUTONS RECIPE - BAKED
This is a super easy and simple-to-make homemade croutons recipe. With only day-old bread, oil, and seasoning you can get a great topping for soups and salads in minutes!
Ingredients
- 100 gr. of Loaf of bread.
- 4 Tbsp. of Olive oil (or vegetable oil).
- 1 Tsp. of Garlic powder.
- 1 Tsp. of Dried parsley.
- ½ Tsp. of Himalayan salts.
Instructions
- Pre-heat the oven to 180 °C degrees (356 °F approx.).
- Cut the bread into bite-sized pieces (around 1cm) with a serrated knife (you can remove the edges too).
- Place parchment paper on a large baking sheet or a cookie sheet.
- Spread 1 tbsp. of oil on the parchment paper.
- Add the cubed bread in a single layer on prepared cookie sheet.
- Spread the rest of the oil with a cooking brush on top of the bread pieces.
- Season with garlic powder*, dried parsley, and salt.
- Place the baking tray in the preheated oven and bake for 5-10 minutes (day-old bread can take less time and fresh bread can take around 10 minutes, also depending on the oven you are using).
- Bake your homemade croutons until golden brown.
- Remove the baking tray from the oven and let it cool down to room temperature and then they are ready to use.
- If you have leftover croutons place them in an air-tight container.

* You can also use chopped fresh garlic.
