HOMEMADE TATER TOTS GLUTEN-FREE
Making homemade tater tots gluten-free is very simple and affordable. Furthermore, these homemade tater tots taste better than store-bought and frozen tots. This is because of the fresh ingredients (such as the russet potatoes or Yukon gold potatoes) and no hidden artificial ingredients; for example, flavoring, sounds amazing, right?
Another great thing about these homemade tater tots is that you can use leftovers to make them. For example, if you have mashed potatoes and don’t want to go to waste; then you can make this fun recipe and reduce food too.
TATER TOTS SEASONINGS
One of the great things about this homemade tater tots recipe is that you can season them with dried and fresh herbs and spices besides the classic tater tots with black pepper and salt. Therefore, these seasoned tater tots are a delightful culinary adventure where you can try lovely aromatic ingredients.
- Onion powder.
- Kosher salt.
- Freshly ground black pepper.
- Dried oregano.
- Chili flakes.
- Dried dill.
- Homemade garlic powder.
In addition to these flavorful seasonings, you can give more flavor to these homemade tater tots when you deep-fried them; for example, by using avocado oil or canola oil.
GLUTEN FREE TATER TOTS
Normally, this recipe is not gluten-free; however, making this great recipe gluten-free is not only easy but the result is yummy too. Sometimes, when we want to make a recipe replacing gluten ingredients with gluten-free flour can be a challenge and in many cases, the food texture or taste is far from being nice. But even though you can use and try gluten-free flour I do not recommend some of them as it will affect the flavor and texture of the homemade tots; such as almond flour. Instead, I used starch and the texture of the tater-tot was amazing.
So, if you have celiac disease, intolerance to gluten ingredients or you want to reduce your gluten intake this is a great recipe to try.

- Take a portion of the potato mixture (tablespoon or large chunks) and make your tater tots with a round shape, or the shape you want.
- I cook my tater tots by deep frying them in hot oil (I used olive oil).
- Cook them until golden brown.
- Place them on a paper towel-lined plate. Let the paper towels absorb the excess olive oil. You can use a deep fryer also*.
