INGREDIENTS FOR CRISPY ONIONS
Crispy onions require thinly sliced onions, flour or cornstarch, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Coat the onion slices evenly, then bake them in the oven until golden.
- Onions: No doubt the star of this recipe is the onions. I used yellow onions for this delicious, crunchy recipe; however, you can use other types, such as white or red onions.
- Oil: Olive oil is a great oil for this recipe with a lovely aromatic flavor. Other oils you can use are vegetable oil and canola oil.
- Corn starch: I coated the sliced yellow onions with corn starch because it absorbs moisture and adds an extra-crunchy texture to the crispy onions. What is more, it is gluten-free, ideal if you can’t use regular flour.
- Salt: I used Himalayan salt, but you can use other types, such as kosher salt, sea salt, table salt, or garlic salt.
